Plantation Shutter Aftercare
Plantation Shutter Warranty & Long-Term Aftercare
Aftercare Doesn't End When the Warranty Does.
Plantation shutters are a long-term investment. I believe the support behind them should be long-term too.
From manufacturer warranty support and my own installation guarantee to adjustments, replacement parts and repairs years later, I’m still here when your shutters need attention.
THE SHUTTERMAN PROMISE
I’ll always recommend repairing before replacing wherever practical. I’ll support you long after your warranty has expired, and I’ll treat your shutters with the same care I’d treat my own.

Plantation Shutters Aftercare – One Person, Ongoing Support
MANUFACTURER PRODUCT WARRANTY
I work with different shutter manufacturers, materials and ranges, so the exact product warranty can vary.
I’ll explain the applicable manufacturer warranty for the shutters you choose and make clear what protection applies to that particular product.
SHUTTERMAN FIVE-YEAR INSTALLATION GUARANTEE
The product may be manufactured elsewhere, but I stand behind my own workmanship.
Every ShutterMan installation is backed by my Five-Year Installation Guarantee. If an issue arises as a direct result of my installation, I’ll work with you to put it right.
SHUTTERMAN LONG-TERM
AFTERCARE
Not every problem is a warranty defect — and not every problem happens during the warranty period.
A loose louvre, damaged slat, bent hinge or worn component doesn’t automatically mean the whole shutter needs replacing.
WARRANTY ANSWERS WHAT'S COVERED. AFTERCARE ANSWERS: “WILL YOU STILL HELP ME?”
Something Changed? Let's See What It Actually Needs.
A child damages a louvre. Furniture catches a panel. A hinge bends. A magnet fails. Something starts feeling loose or slightly out of alignment.
Years of fitting and repairing shutters have taught me that many problems can be dealt with without replacing an otherwise perfectly good shutter.
Where practical, I’ll always look at adjustment, repair or replacement components first.
REPAIR BEFORE REPLACE.
It’s often more economical, avoids unnecessary waste and helps protect the investment you’ve already made.
If the issue belongs on my dedicated Repairs, Replacement Slats or Removal & Reinstallation service, I’ll point you towards the right solution rather than duplicating those services here.
Long After Installation, There Are Still Options.
ADJUSTMENTS & TWEAKS
Help with louvre tension, hinges, magnets, catches and panel alignment where appropriate.
WARRANTY SUPPORT
Help establishing the applicable product warranty and the information needed for a genuine warranty enquiry.
REPLACEMENT PARTS
Where suitable components are available, individual parts, panels may be replaced rather than an entire shutter window.
REPLACEMENT LOUVRES
A damaged slat doesn’t necessarily mean a new shutter. My dedicated replacement-louvre service may provide the answer.
REPAIRS - DAMAGED/BROKEN
For broken or damaged shutters outside warranty, my Plantation Shutter Repairs service can assess practical repair options.
REMOVE & REINSTALL
Replacing windows or carrying out building work? Existing shutters can potentially be professionally removed, protected and reinstalled.

The Best Aftercare Stories Happen Years Later.
I recently returned to a customer’s home 18 years after I’d originally installed her shutters.
She was replacing the windows, so I removed the existing shutters and later reinstalled them around the new windows.
Out of curiosity, I held a current manufacturer’s colour swatch against the interior shutters I’d fitted almost two decades earlier.
Neither of us could see a noticeable colour difference.
That’s a lovely demonstration of a quality product — but the bigger point for this page is simpler.
18 YEARS LATER, SHE COULD STILL CALL THE PERSON WHO’D FITTED THEM.
That’s what long-term aftercare means to me.
Plantation Shutter Warranty & Aftercare FAQs
What Warranty Do My Plantation Shutters Have?
The exact manufacturer warranty depends on the shutter range, material and manufacturer you purchased. I don’t publish one generic product-warranty period across every shutter because the applicable terms can differ.
Does ShutterMan Provide Its Own Guarantee?
Yes. ShutterMan provides a Five-Year Installation Guarantee covering issues that arise as a direct result of my installation workmanship.
What If My Warranty Has Expired?
Get in touch anyway. An expired warranty doesn’t automatically mean an unrepairable shutter. Depending on the issue, adjustment, replacement components or a professional repair may still provide a practical solution.
Can Plantation Shutters Be Repaired?
Often, yes. Broken louvres, hinges, magnets, alignment issues and other damage can frequently be assessed individually rather than assuming the entire shutter needs replacing.
Can You Help With Shutters Fitted by Another Company?
Potentially, through my paid repair or replacement-parts services. However, warranty claims normally need to be made against the company or manufacturer responsible for the original warranty. I have however, completed countless repairs even when the existing supplier has stuck two fingers up to their original customer. Potentially, through my paid repair and replacement-parts service. However, warranty claims normally need to be made through the company or manufacturer responsible for the original warranty.
That said, I’ve completed countless repairs for customers who have been left without support by their original supplier. If you’ve been passed from one person to another—or simply left to deal with the problem yourself—I’ll do my best to help get your shutters working properly again.
How Should I Look After My Plantation Shutters?
Regular light dusting and gentle cleaning are usually all that’s required. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals and forcing any component that feels stiff or out of alignment. If something doesn’t feel right, ask before forcing it.
What Should I Send With an Aftercare Enquiry?
Please include your name, installation address or postcode, approximate installation date, order or invoice number if available, the shutter range if known, a short description of the issue and clear photographs or video.
