Identify Replacement Plantation Shutter Slats
First, We Need to Know What You’ve Got? Find the Paperwork First. It Can Save a Lot of Back-and-Forth.
Before I can make the replacement, we need to establish exactly what we’re trying to replace.
I Know My Shutter Specification
Perhaps your original paperwork tells you:
MDF • 63mm Louvre • Silk White
Perfect.
If I have that specification in stock, we’re already most of the way there.
I’ll principally need the exact overall louvre length in millimetres, together with confirmation of the control or tilt system and the components required.
I Don’t Know What Shutters I’ve Got?
This is extremely common. But before sending me a general enquiry and one photograph, please have a look for any original paperwork first.
Check your: Invoice. Quotation. Guarantee. Order confirmations. Old emails.
We’re looking for clues such as: Manufacturer • Product Range • Material • Colour • Louvre Size
Even if the company that originally supplied your shutters hasn’t been able or willing to help with the repair, their paperwork may give me exactly the clue I need.
There’s a Good Chance I May Already Have What You Need

I’ve been working with plantation shutters for around 25 years. For roughly the first 15 years of that period, one manufacturer accounted for around 95% of the shutters entering the UK market based on my experience of the industry at the time. That’s particularly useful today because many of those shutters are still going strong.
Pure White & Silk White
Two of the most popular finishes were Pure White and the slightly softer Silk White. Both remain available. I hold replacement stock across the main louvre sizes I support in MDF and wood, in both Pure White and Silk White.
Based on the shutters and replacement enquiries I’ve encountered over the years, I estimate this potentially gives me coverage for around 80% of the traditional replacement-louvre requirements I see, before allowing for newer manufacturers and ranges.

For supply by post, I need the exact overall louvre length in millimetres.

Where I have compatible stock, I’ll prepare your replacement to the agreed specification and exact length.
04. Post It — Or Let Me Fit It
Choose the UK-wide DIY option and I’ll send your replacement with the appropriate components and swap-over instructions.

A white shutter slat isn’t simply a white shutter slat. To establish whether I have a compatible replacement, I may need to identify: Manufacturer. Material. Colour. Louvre size. Exact length. Control or tilt system. Traditional control rod? Clearview? Silent or hidden tilt?
These details affect whether I have a compatible replacement and which components your new louvre requires.

Not Every Replacement Slat Is Interchangeable
Different shutter manufacturers have used different:
Profiles. Materials. Colours. Pivot arrangements. Tilt systems. Components.
Older shutters can also change subtly in appearance over time. That’s why I won’t claim my replacement louvres fit every plantation shutter ever made. If I think I have a suitable match, I’ll tell you. If we need more information, we’ll investigate further.
And if I don’t believe my stock is compatible? I will tell you before you waste your money.

Can You Replace Slats From Shutters You Didn’t Originally Supply?
Potentially, yes. I don’t need to have supplied your original shutters, but I do need to identify what you have and establish whether I stock a compatible replacement.
What If I Don’t Know Who Made My Shutters?
Look for your original paperwork first. If that doesn’t provide enough information, photographs and potentially a WhatsApp video assessment can help us investigate further.
Can You Guarantee an Exact Colour Match?
Not always. I stock Pure White and Silk White across the materials and sizes I support, but manufacturer, age, material and finish can affect the final match.
However, every slat is paintable. You could run your slats through a spectrum analyser to make an exact paint match to paint it over with.
What Measurement Do You Need?
Once we’ve identified the correct louvre specification, I need the exact overall required length in millimetres for a made-to-size postal replacement.
What Louvre Sizes Can You Replace?
Common replacement requirements include 63mm, 76mm, 89mm and 114mm louvres, although the original specification needs confirming before ordering. Plus I have the older (mostly discontunued) 47mm louvres too.

Can You Fit the Replacement for Me?
Yes. Within my normal service area, the initial call-out and assessment is £95. Further-afield visits can be considered individually with additional travel agreed beforehand.
